Additionally, after the infected pigs are culled, lime power is scattered by veterinary workers in affected area for the following least three weeks in order to completely stamp out the ASF virus.
Moreover, the locality has also set up inspection teams by which to strictly monitor the transportation of animals, particularly pig and pork products, through the region.
Dang Van Hiep, head of the veterinary department in Thanh Hoa province, said the new initiative has been highlighted as it aims to improve the efficiency of preventive measures taken against ASF.
Mr Hiep noted that these effective measures have been applied at several quarantine stations throughout the locality in a bid to ensure all vehicles travelling through the region will be disinfected and sterilized.
