According to the World Organisation for Animal Health, between 2017 and February 2, 2019, there have been reports of the African swine flu disease in 20 nations across the world as over 1.03 million pigs were culled.

During the conference, MARD representatives also devised a number of solutions to prevent diseases occurring among animals such as bird flu, foot-and-mouth disease, and blue-ear pig pandemic.

With regards to African swine flu in particular, MARD pointed out that the relevant agencies will continue to maintain a tighten control over the trade and transport of animals. Accordingly, markets and slaughterhouses will be frequently sterilized in order to prevent the spread of the disease.
