With the new additions, the southern metropolis’s case count rose to 5,865, while most of the remaining cases were recorded in southern and central provinces.
During the noon time, the nation also recorded six imported case in the southern province of Kiên Giang, which were immediately put into isolation upon arrival.
Of the latest local cases recorded nationwide, 240 were found in isolation or locked down areas.
So far, the country has logged a total 17,716 domestic infections and 1,854 imported ones, with the overall number of local cases in the fourth COVID-19 wave climbing to 16,146.
A total of 15 provinces have now gone 14 days without any new cases of local transmission being detected, while 4 other provinces have recorded no secondary infections.
July 4 also saw Vietnam record two more deaths relating to COVID-19, raising the fatality count to 86, including 51 in the latest wave that hit the nation more than two months ago.
