The film, based on an award winning and best-selling novel by Nguyen Nhat Anh, is Vietnamese American Director Victor Vu’s 11th feature.
Set in the mid-1980s in a poor countryside village of central Vietnam, the film is a nostalgic story of two young brothers who share everything but also compete with each other while vying for the attention and affection of a young girl.
Its box office revenue has reached US$1 million (VND22 billion) since it was first screened on October 2, 2015 in Vietnam.
Previously, it was screened at the American Film Market in Los Angeles and the 68th annual Cannes Film Festival. On September 26, 2015, it also won ‘Feature Films of 2015’ at the Silk Road International Film Festival in Fujian Province, China.
The TIFF Kids awards, presented annually each April, are among the largest children’s film festivals in the world. This year, the festival attracted the participation of 157 films from 39 countries.
