According to the local police, the blast occurred at around 17h30 (local time) when a bomb placed on the rail tracks exploded as a train towards the platform of the Ban Nikhom station, Khok Pho district ran over it. The explosion blew away half of the train’s last car, killing one railway employee who sat in this car. The train was heading for Bangkok. The police said the blast was linked to the rebels who have haunted the three southern provinces – Pattani, Narathiwat, and Yala – in the past ten years.-
