Foreign tourists travelling to Phu Quoc island by air are from potential markets such as Northeast Asia, Europe, the United States, and Australia, where the COVID-19 pandemic has been brought under control.
The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) has also worked alongside Vietnamese representative offices abroad in order to update information and launch advertising programmes aimed at attracting tourists from potential international markets to Phu Quoc.
After deploying a pilot scheme to welcome visitors to Phu Quoc in the first phase, VNAT is set to expand the model to other destinations throughout the country such as Ha Long, Hoi An, Nha Trang, and Da Lat.
The VNAT has also developed a safe tourism digital map that has been integrated into the ‘Du Lịch Vietnam An Toan’ (Travel Safe in Vietnam) mobile app.
The app will make it easier for users to complete the form online, and for authorities to improve the effectiveness of the country’s COVID-19 response.
The VNAT has also developed a digital vaccine certification system which is set to be piloted to welcome back international arrivals through the website https://travelpass.tourism.vn.
