Relevant forces quickly located the source, zoned off virus hit areas, conducted contract tracing and tested people of high risk groups, said Nguyen Luu Trung, vice chairman of Kien Giang province’s administration, during a press conference held on September 21.
“We are working hard to ensure the fresh outbreak will be soon brought under control and will not impact a pilot scheme to welcome back foreign travelers to Phu Quoc,” Trung told media workers.
A cluster of 17 F0 cases detected in An Thoi ward was traced back to a group of carriers at a port, with a total of 50 F1 cases being isolated at the local healthcare station.
Competent authorities placed a lockdown on the risk areas and took hundreds of samples, with the test results coming back negative.
Local authorities will now continue to trace F1 cases within the local community in order to separate all F0 cases and request that F2 cases undergo self-quarantine at home.
