Ambassador to South Africa Le Huy Hoang underscored that the forum provided South African businesses with information about Vietnam’s sea logistics potential and legal regulations.He told the participants that although the current trade exchange between Vietnam and South Africa reached US$1.2 billion, the cooperation results have not matched the two sides’ potential due to high transport costs.He encouraged sea logistics businesses from both countries to strengthen cooperation to facilitate import and export activities.President of Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP) Nguyen Dang Nghiem told the forum about SNP’s development and international cooperation strategies and showed a strong determination to foster cooperation with foreign partners, including South African businesses in sea logistics, worldwide delivery, import and export, infrastructure development and real estate.Representatives from South African agencies and businesses shared information and proposed measures to promote cooperation in sea logistics.Ben De Klark from the Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry said many South African businesses wanted to develop cooperative ties with Vietnam but were hindered by geographic distance. He hoped that close cooperation in sea logistics would boost market penetration.The Vietnamese Embassy took this opportunity to promote Vietnam’s agricultural and seafood products, such as Trung Nguyen coffee, tra fish and fragrant rice.
