The plant cost US$1.6 billion (VND35,700 billion) to construct and is the 3rd largest hydropower plant in Southeast Asia. Above Deputy PM Trinh Dinh Dung arrives at the inauguration ceremony.

Also, attending the ceremony are leaders of ministries, departments and central agencies along with representatives of the local Lai Chau, Dien Bien and Son La governments.

To construct the plant, more than 2,000 local households are resettled. Pictured above are some of those resettled who attended the ceremony on December 20.
