Secretary of State for the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Vonxay Visat, said Cambodia is running short of vegetables as its agricultural production heavily depends on rain-water due to poor irrigation system.

In fact, Vietnam has shipped fresh vegetables since 2009 with export volume increasing from 200 tons per day to more than 300 tons currently.

Traders in southern An Giang province alone export nearly 80 tons of fruit and vegetables to Cambodia daily, however, it still fails to meet the regional nation’s growing demand.

Vietnam- one of main trade partners of Cambodia- registered nearly US$3.3 billion in total trade in 2014.
