The friendly match was held as part of a warm-up for the Vietnamese team ahead of the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games which are set to take place in the Philippines this coming November.
The players of the U22 national team, playing in white, showed confidence throughout the match, despite being the away side.
The footballers looked comfortable on the ball, showing good technique and skill.
After controlling a pass from Tan Tai, striker Tien Linh opened the scoring for Vietnam in the 18th minute.
The Vietnamese players continued to dominate the game during the second half.
Tien Linh (No 9) doubled the lead with a second goal for Vietnam in the 58th minute.
Legendary Dutch coach Guus Hiddink, head coach of the Chinese team, appeared worried by the poor display put on by the Chinese footballers.
Despite their attacks, the Chinese team failed to score during the tie.
Vietnam’s U22 side ran out 2-0 winners over China.
Vietnam’s head coach Park Hang-seo notes that the match had been a challenge for the Vietnamese footballers and he will continue to be on the lookout for new talent ahead of the 30th SEA Games later this year.
