The men’s football at ASIAD 18 is to set kick off on August 14 and come to a close on September 1 in Indonesia. The official schedule will be announced in the next few days.

In Group B, Thailand will meet Qatar and Uzbekistan, while Malaysia will compete with the Republic of Korea and Bahrain in Group E.

At ASIAD 2014, the Vietnamese team, led by head coach Toshiya Miura, progressed from the qualifying round before losing to United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the quarter-finals.

This year, Vietnam’s U23 team will meet up on July 22. Coach Park Hang-seo now has a preliminary squad list of 50 names to play at ASIAD 2018.

The Vietnamese team will take a 10-day training course in Hanoi. They will then play U23 Uzbekistan, Oman and Australia at My Dinh National Stadium.

Also on July 5, a draw for the women’s football competition was held. The women’s national football team, led by coach Mai Duc Chung, will face a challenge as they have been drawn into Group C along with strong rivals from Japan and Thailand.
