The Vietnam Football Federation has sent a proposal to the federation to replace the Philippines as a co-host of the biennial tournament that will be organised later this year.

The Philippines have withdrawn after failing to meet the criteria set by the AFF.

Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia are also in the running.

A decision on the replacement will be made by the AFF Council at its next meeting on March 12 in Danang.

The competition is scheduled for November 19 to December 17 with the participation of eight teams, and two others who will go through qualifiers from October 13-22.

Vietnam co-hosted the last edition of the AFF Cup with Singapore when they lost to Malaysia in the semi-final.

Thailand won the Cup beating Malaysia 4-3 in a two-legged final.
