The competition will see the participation of players in the top 55 of the ATP Challenger Rankings, including two top Vietnamese players Ly Hoang Nam and Nguyen Hoang Thien. 

Prize money at the tournament totals US$50,000 and winners of both singles and doubles titles will receive 90 bonus points, the organisation board said at a press conference on October 5.

Vietnam Open 2016 is an opportunity for Vietnamese players to practice and gain playing experiences, said Doan Quoc Cuong, who is in charge of tennis at the General Department of Sports and Physical Training. 

On this occasion, the International Tennis Federation and Vietnam Tennis Federation will co-organise a workshop for tennis coaches to meet and exchange opinions on training methods from October 6-9.
