
The first half of the game saw the Vietnamese side dominate possession, taking only five minutes to open the scoring, with striker Nhu Ho putting Japanese coach Akira Ijiri’s team ahead.
The national side went into the break 5-0 up, with goals from Minh Chuyen in the sixth and 40th minutes, Hai Yen in the ninth minute, and Phuong Anh in the 30th minute.
Going into the second half, the U18 women’s national team eased the pace and scored only two additional goals to win the match with a thumping 7-0 score line.
Vietnam’s U18s have therefore earned nine points in their opening three matches, securing a place in the semi-finals of the tournament in the process.
The AFF U18 Women’s Championship 2022 opened on July 22 in Indonesia and is scheduled to last through to August 4.
The regional tournament sees the participation of nine teams competing across two groups.
The Group B involves teams such as Australia, the Philippines, Myanmar, and Malaysia. The two best teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals.
The tournament was first held back in 2014, with this year’s version representing its second edition. Thailand finished as champion in 2014, with the runner-up title going to Vietnam.
