Information regarding the competition was released during an announcement ceremony held in Hanoi on June 12. The tournament will use the official name of the National U15 Football Tournament, the Next Media Cup.
A number of other businesses are also to sponsor the tournament such as Thai Son Bac, Asanzo, Dong Luc, and Mai House.
Upon addressing at the ceremony, Le Hoai Anh, General Secretary of the Vietnam Football Federation, said the tournament is an important event that provides a healthy platform for young footballers to gain more experience and showcase their talents for the national team’s junior squads.
All of the tournament’s matches will be broadcast live on Youtube, Facebook, and Next Media’s own channels.
Eight teams are to compete in the tournament with Group A containing the host, Ho Chi Minh City, Hoang Anh Gia Lai, Thanh Hoa, and Song Lam Nghe An. Group B will be made up of Khanh Hoa, Viettel, SHB Danang, and Tay Ninh.
The opening round of the Next Media Cup is to take place at the Thong Nhat stadium with the host, Ho Chi Minh City, taking on Hoang Anh Gia Lai in the opening match at 4pm on June 18.
