In the opening competition, Kim Ngan defeated her Nepalese rival, Lama Ayasha, before securing convincing victories over Fariah Rafaela from Portugal 22-0, and Pirseyidova Sevda from Azerbaijan 20-0.
She won a place in the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics Games as a result of progressing to the quarter-finals of the tournament.
Kim Ngan beat Aruba’s Petrocchi Chiara 23-20 in the quarter-finals, with her penultimate victory coming against Goebel Laura from Germany 10-6 in the semi-finals.
In the final match of the competition, she successfully defended her championship title in the girls’ under 49kg category at the World Taekwondo Junior Championships when she triumphed 8-7 over Canada’s Kafada Josipa.
