Speaking at the opening ceremony on September 24, Secretary of the Lao Cai provincial Party Nguyen Van Vinh noted the high level of participation of foreign athletes at this year’s event, wishing all of the competitors the best of luck.
He noted the number of riders, teams and the prize money is the largest ever for the tournament, held annually in the province, making it a more challenging and interesting event.
At the two-day tourney running September 24-25, athletes will compete in three grueling events – a 55km road race, a 50km cross country terrain and a 25km cross country for amateurs.
