Fencer Anh out of Rio Games after two matches

Anh, who is world No 144, was defeated 9-15 by Arianna Errigo of Italy in the women’s foil event at Carioca Arena 3 on August 10.

Errigo, won a silver in the individual and a gold in the team events at the London Games four years ago.

Earlier in the day, Anh beat world No 109 Aikaterini-Maria Kontochristopoulou of Greece 15-13 in the final round.

It was the first match win for Vietnam’s fencing at the Olympics.

Earlier, Vietnamese athletes were eliminated from their first round in the women’s epee and sabre events.
