The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) announced the sponsorship deal at a signing ceremony held in Hanoi on May 6. The deal will see the tournament named the Vietnamese National Football Second League- Asanzo Cup 2019.

Speaking at the ceremony, Pham Van Tam, CEO of Asanzo Group, said the National Football Second League is an important part of Vietnam’s footballing pyramid as it helps to seek new talent and contributes greatly to the future development of the sport.

The competition is set to start on May 11, and will see 14 teams compete across two groups.

Group A will consist of Cong An Nhan Dan, Tre Hanoi, Nam Dinh, Tre SHB Danang, Kon Tum, Lam Dong, and Fisshan Khanh Hoa. Whilst Group B will include Binh Thuan, Gia Dinh, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Long An, Tien Giang, Ben Tre, and Vinh Long.

The VFF have announced that in the qualifying stage of the competition, each team will play home and away ties.

The first half of fixtures will be held from May 11 to June 10, whilst the second round of fixtures will take place from July 10 to August 9.

In the final round of the competition, four teams will take part in two matches. The winners of Group A will play the second placed team in Group B, whilst the winners of Group B will face the second placed team in Group A.

The final round of fixtures is set to take place between August 16 and 19.

The winning team will earn promotion to the National Football First League for the 2020 season.
