Volunteer youth and members of the provincial Young Doctor Club are providing free medical check-ups and medicine and information about tropical diseases to more than 4,000 local people in Savannakhet. They coordinated with an Uthumphon hospital in performing surgery for a patient with financial difficulties, who had a tumor of the thorax and transferred some medical techniques to district hospitals.

The delegation from Quang Tri province also presented 1 ton of rice, 2,000 pairs of shoes, 2,000 pioneer’s scarfs and 500 mosquito nets to local people and pupils, and gifts to the families of policy beneficiaries as well as holding culture and sports exchanges with local youth.

Last year, Quang Tri provincial Youth Union in coordination with the Red Cross Society and the Young Doctor Club held a youth volunteer campaign in Nong district of Savannakhet province. They offered free medical check-ups, consultations and medicine to nearly 1,300 local people in 19 hamlets in Noong district.

Vice secretary of Quang Tri provincial Youth Union Tran Xuan Anh says the volunteer campaign in Savannakhet is an annual activity of Quang Tri youth in the hope of supporting local people in overcoming difficulties to rise up and tightens the ties of solidarity and friendship between youth of the two countries.
