According to the China Earthquake Networks Center, the earthquake hit Kaohsiung city in the south of Taiwan at a depth of 15 km at 3:57 a.m (local time) on February 6. The quake had a magnitude of 6.7.According to local media, the earthquake has left at least 11 dead and 462 others injured.Earthquakes frequently jolt Taiwan. Most of them are minor, but a 7.3-magnitude quake, the strongest to hit Taiwan in about 100 years, shook the island on September 21, 1999, leaving more than 2,000 people dead.
Vietnamese agency works to rescue nationals in Taiwan’s quake
