At roughly 5 am, firefighters received the first calls reporting the blaze, fuelled by strong winds combined with drought parched vegetation, was spreading uncontrollably.

Hundreds of fire-fighters, civil defence forces, and local people were involved in the fight.

It was extremely difficult to get enough water to the area and smother the flames because the water source was so far from the area, firefighters reported.

Phung Tan Viet, vice chairman of the Danang People's Committee, took charge of ensuring the safety of citizens in the surrounding forest areas.

It wasn’t until 5:30 pm they were finally able to get the fire under control.

There are no reports of deaths or injuries, said fire officials.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
