Vietnam ranks fifth in Top Countries By Forest Growth Since 2001
VOV.VN - Vietnam has been named among the Top Countries By Forest Growth Since 2001 complied by Visual Capitalist, a data-driven visual content focused on global trends, investment, technology, and the economy.
According to the list, the country duly ranked in fifth place.
Visual Capitalist has visualised forest growth around the world, ranking countries by their forest area increases between 2001 and 2021, as measured in square kilometres (km²).
All of the data has been sourced from the World Bank, with the countries being ranked by forest growth in terms of square kilometres, rather than percentage change.
Visual Capitalist reported share that Vietnamese forests as a percentage of total land area have doubled since 1990.
“Since 2001, its forests have grown nearly 28,000 km², a 23% increase,” it revealed.
China topped the list, expanding its forest area by nearly 425,000 km2, which is roughly the size of Sweden, between 2001 and 2021.
This was followed by the United States which has an expanded forested area of 57,406 km2 , Russia at 54,564 km2, and India at 46,449 km2.
