In Hanoi, activities will include honouring 100 outstanding donors and holding discussions from June 12-14. World Blood Donor Day is also an occasion to remember Austrian-American Karl Lansteiner, who discovered blood groups and made blood transfusions possible. In the northern province of Phu Tho, programmes “The meeting of kind hearts” and “Vietnam’s kind hearts return to the cradle of the nation” will be held in Viet Tri city on June 12 and 13, respectively. Vietnam has organised the event annually since 2007.

A variety of activities will be held to celebrate World Blood Donor Day on June 14, according to the National Steering Committee for voluntary blood donation, including honouring.
