VTOS was approved by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) as part of the Environmentally and Socially Responsible Tourism Capacity Development Programme, known as the EU Project.It consists of a range of units of competence that specify particular skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary to fulfill job requirements satisfactorily.Participants also debated tourism training cooperation between educational establishments and firms, and the demand for tourism workforce training in the central coastal region.Phan Tien Dung, Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said tourist arrivals have surged nearly 15% annually, pushing revenue by 30% recently.
Currently, the total number of people working in local tourism is nearly 35,000, he added.
Moreover, a survey indicated that half of hospitality employers offer new training to their staff, especially those working in marketing and housekeeping practices.Co-hosted by the EU Project and the provincial People’s Committee, the event attracted over 100 stakeholders coming from Thua Thien-Hue, Danang and Quang Nam.
