His achievement came in the CNC milling competition in the manufacturing and engineering technology category of the world event.
Dieu’s silver medal finish represents the best result that a Vietnamese delegate has ever achieved in seven attempts.
During the four-day competition, aside from winning one silver medal, eight other Vietnamese contestants received rewards for excellence in seven occupations including web technologies, welding, prototype modelling, electronics, car painting, plastic die engineering, and mechanical engineering CAD.
The World Skills Competition (WSC) is an event that is held every two years. In this year’s version, the competition saw 1,355 contestants from all over the world taking part, competing across 56 official occupations. In addition to this, 11 occupations will also hold events for young people aged 15 to 17.
In total, representatives of the nation took part in 18 occupations during the WSC 2019.
Having taken part in six previous versions of the WSC, Vietnamese contestants brought home a bronze medal in addition to eight medallions of excellence in 2015, and another bronze along with five medallions of excellence in 2017.
