Those targeted by the campaign are illegal migrants working in small businesses, selling, hairdressing, construction, carpentry, garment, and tourism. According to Arak Prommanee, Director-General of the Department of Employment, the agency has inspected many areas in Bangkok and provinces with a large number of migrant labourers, who mostly come from Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. Meanwhile, Labour Permanent Secretary Boontarik Smithi said from the beginning of the year to August, a total of 2,419 migrant labourers were arrested because of working in the banned sectors.
