Hailing from Te Kauwhata College, they will spend five days from December 22-27 to build a restroom at a primary school in the province’s Mo Cay Nam District under a program organized by Green Summers.
Green Summers is a Ho Chi Minh City-based organization that organizes community service projects for international students to help poor lives along Mekong River.

Under the project, the student will also join home-stay program and enjoying local foods and cycling about 2km every day from home to the school to build the restroom.
“Due to the exiting condition of damaged and eroded toilets, 250 elementary school students and teachers do not have access to a clean and hygienic bathroom facility,” said Nguyen Thanh Long of Green Summers.
The community service project will serve as a melting pot for the international student volunteers to connect with the local community, enjoy a real-life living experience in Vietnam and exchange their cultural experiences with the local people, Long said.
Established in 2010, Green Summers has built charity houses and communal roads in Vinh Long and Ben Tre provinces with the participation of students from many schools abroad.
