Cam Ngoc Minh, chair of the Son La Provincial People’s Committee, along with other officials, made a fact-finding tour of the hardest hit areas.

Nam Pam Bridge, which was broken down by the flashflood, is currently being repaired.

The bridge is expected to reopen to the public on the afternoon of August 11, while roads to the hamlets will be completed and reopened in September.

Temporary bridges are being built to help local people for the time being.

Mr Minh directed Muong La district authorities to work with the Department of Transport in order to make a plan to build a roadway, 109 via Nam Pam village, to ensure traffic safety in the long-run.

Essential food, clothing, and water are being supplied to the locals.

Nguyen Thanh Cong, Secretary of the Muong La District, said the locality has prepared essential supplies of food, clothing and medicine, enough to last six months.

Muong La flood victims receive relief.

Tractors and excavators clear mud and stones to help local people travel.
