The area where the fire took hold is opposite to the temple, where the buildings are mainly made of wood. Within minutes, the temple was engulfed in flames.

Local firelighters were mobilized to the scene to tackle the blaze. At around 1:30pm the fire was brought under complete control.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
