Huynh Thanh Khoa, a local in Tan Thuan Dong Commune in Cao Lanh City, has created more than 1,000 mangos engraved with words and patterns, turning the fruit into a unique decorative item during this Tet holiday.
A mango engraved with wishing words, including “Phuoc – Loc – Tho” (fortune – prosperity – longevity), “Xuan Moi Phat Tai” (a prosperous new year), and “Van Su Nhu Y” (may myriad things go according to your will) was sold for VND300,000 (US$13.46).
The fruits engraving with a Vietnamese map had a higher price, which stood at VND500,000 ($22.43).
This year, the farmer, of Dong Thap Province, earned over VND300 million ($13,460) thanks to his creative idea.
The Lunar New Year, aka “Tet” in Vietnamese, falls on February 8.
