Politburo member and Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Dinh La Thang said at a reception for Mark Day, General Manager, Government Industry, Worldwide Public Sector Microsoft Corporation on March 31.

Thang appreciated Microsoft recent cooperation with Vietnam in general and HCM City particular and briefed the guest on the city’s determination to develop itself into a financial, economic and cultural hub in the region for a civilized and modern society.

To meet the target, the city has developed many breakthrough programs with specific solutions, which need technological applications, particularly IT application. Along with the development of e-Government, HCM City and Microsoft will cooperate in such sectors as consultancy, development and deployment of comprehensive solutions for e-Health, smart transportation, anti-crime and anti-flooding.

For his part, Mark Day emphasized that Microsoft is willing to help the city tackle hot issues in its urbanization process, such as e-government, transportation, the environment, food hygiene and safety.

He hoped that the meeting will soon open up broader prospects for bilateral cooperation through specific programs.
