Inoue Kenichi, the 58-year-old owner of Sakura Restaurant located in District 1, told to the police that the burglars had taken VND105.5 million and US$4,000 in cash, and a diamond ring worth US$6,270.
A surveillance camera captures a man who broke into a Japanese restaurant in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, on June 5, 2016.
Footage from a surveillance camera showed two men broke into the restaurant just three minutes after Kenichi left for dinner at around 10.30 p.m.
The burglars found a surveillance camera and used a shovel to turn it towards the ceiling. They also removed another camera in the kitchen, according to police.
However, the burglary was still captured by yet another camera in the restaurant, the police said.
