At an October 18 reception for Chairman of the US House Foreign Affairs Sub-Committee on Asia and the Pacific Ted Yoho, Nhan praised the remarkable progress in the Vietnam-US partnership as evidenced by a wealth of US investment projects in Vietnam, covering economics, social affairs, education, and science and technology.The US is the tenth largest foreign investor in HCM City with over 350 projects worth more than US$640 million. In the first three quarters of 2017, US businesses injected US$310 million into the city, accounting for one third of total foreign direct investment (FDI) poured into operational 579 projects in the metropolitan area. Mr. Nhan said he believes that in his post, Mr. Yoho will continue to help Vietnam and HCM City in particular, to nurture a closer and comprehensive cooperation with the US.Mr. Yoho, in turn, said that more and more US businesses are keen on investment in Vietnam and assured his nation’s willingness to assist the city’s urban development, including smart city design based on its practical experience in this field.He said he hopes municipal leaders will facilitate US businesses seeking opportunities for cooperation and investment in the future.
