They are kindergarten and primary students from Nhan Ai School for Children with Disabilities in My Tho city. The nine-month course at the city’s sport centre will equip the children with skills to save themselves and others from drowning.
It is also intended to help raise their confidence and better integrate into the community. According to Vo Thi Tuyet, Secretary General of the Tien Giang Union of Friendship Organisations, the class, the first of its kind in the province, is supported by Australian volunteers from the Australian Water Safety on the Mekong (AWSOM) Project.

The project and sponsors from Perth, Australia have donated more than US$5,200 to the class, she said.
