DK1 is specifically designed for civil services

The building of the platform was associated with Gac Ma (Johnson South Reef) event

After keeping control of Mac Ga Island in 1988, China continued occupying some islands belonging to Vietnam’s Truong Sa archipelago.

To defend national sea and island sovereignty, Vietnam was determined to construct DK platforms on the continental shelf in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province.

First DK platforms – Tu Chinh A, Phuc Tan and Ba Ke A were erected in 1989.

The DK1 platform has played an important role in defending the country’s sovereignty over its islands, sea and continental shelf over the past 27 years.
