The patient, Le Thi Kim Trang from Buon Don district, was in stable health after nearly 10 days of treatment at the provincial hospital.

On June 3, the Dak Lak polyclinic admitted the female patient, who was hospitalized due to bellyache, vomiting, and diarrhea. She was diagnosed with infectious diarrhea.

Earlier, on May 31, she had been admitted to the Tu Du hospital in HCM City to treat gynecological disease and then discharged from the hospital on June 2. She came into contact with a patient infected with A/H1N1 at Tu Du hospital during the treatment period. According to the results of her tests at Tu Du hospital on June 3, she had contracted the A/H1N1 virus.

Dr Pham Van Lao, director of the Preventive Medicine Centre said the centre has co-ordinated with Dak Lak polyclinic to treat the patient in isolation and she was discharged from hospital after ten days of treatment.

The provincial health sector has warned residents to regularly wash their hands with soap, wear face masks, especially in crowded areas, and to clean rooms and workplaces with antiviral solutions to avoid contracting the A/H1N1 flu. If there are symptoms of A/H1N1 flu, patients need to go attend a medical centre for urgent treatment.
