The four Vietnamese citizens entered Van Don Airport on April 20 from Japan and are being in quarantine to receive treatment at a general hospital in the northern province of Thai Binh.

The remaining two patients who are Indian nationals were placed into isolation as soon as they arrived in Yen Bai province on April 18,  Their second test results on April 21 came back positive for the SARS-CoV-2. They are undergoing treatment at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi's Dong Anh district.

With the latest addition, the national infection tally has risen to 2,812, including 1,570 local infections and 1,242 imported cases.

Among the overall figure, a total of 2,490 have declared to be clear of the virus, while the death toll stays at 35.

Furthermore, 40 of those still receiving treatment have since tested negative for the virus at least once. In addition, there are more than 39,190 people who are currently in quarantine nationwide for medical observation, the Ministry noted, adding that a total of 108,897 people have received the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination as of 4 p.m. on April 21.

As many as 27 cities and provinces across the nation have conducted the first and second phases of the COVID-19 inoculation, with a particular focus on frontline healthcare workers and members of community-based COVID-19 groups, the steering committees for COVID-19 prevention and control, alongside police and armed forces.

Regarding a positive Indian expert in Yen Bai, the provincial Department of Health on April 21 sampled 10 F1 contacts of the confirmed patient, with two cases coming out positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, and the remaining cases reporting negative results.
