The 65 locally-transmitted cases were recorded in Quang Ninh (1), Bac Giang (1), Hung Yen (3), Hanoi (22), Hai Duong (1), Bac Ninh (17), Thai Binh (1), Vinh Phuc (7), Hai Phong (1), Hue (1), Da Nang (8), Nam Dinh (1), and Quang Nam (1).
With these new patients, the total number of COVID-19 infections in Vietnam rose to 3,230, including 1,811 domestic cases. Of which, 241 cases were detected since the virus recurred in the country on April 27.
The same day, as many as 42 coronavirus patients were declared to be clear of the virus, bringing the total recoveries in the country to 2,602, while 64 cases receiving treatment have tested negative for the coronavirus at least one time or more.
Furthermore 42,293 people are being quarantined across the country after having close contact with confirmed COVID-19 patients or returning home from pandemic-hit regions.
The coronavirus has hit 23 cities and provinces nationwide, with a total of 241 local transmissions recorded since April 27.
Health Minister Nguyen Thanh Long said that the latest wave of the pandemic is very complicated with multiple outbreaks, multiple sources of infection, and multiple strains, so the rate of infection has increased higher than the previous outbreaks.
He asked localities to activate the entire pandemic prevention system, as if they were in the process of combatting the pandemic, while staying vigilant and calm in the COVID-19 fight.
