This is the first time the programme, part of the “For a Green Vietnam” project, has been implemented in Yen Bai.
Addressing the event, General Director of Canon Vietnam Katsuyoshi Soma said the programme will help raise awareness of tree planting and environmental protection .
Provincial authorities said the planting not only contributes to coping with climate change but also supports the local economy.
After the ceremony, representatives from agencies, youth members and about 100 Canon Vietnam volunteers gathered to plant hundreds of trees.
Started in 2010, “For a Green Vietnam” has thus far developed and planted 190 hectares of forest in Bac Giang, Thanh Hoa and Yen Bai provinces.
