About 300 healthcare workers have been mobilised to carry out the COVID-19 tests for all officials and staff of the airport, starting on February 9.
The testing campaign was launched following the detection of a coronavirus hotspot at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, the largest in Vietnam. More than 30 cases have been detected so far in the city, with most of them closely linked to the Tan Son Nhat airport hotspot.
Hanoi capital has recorded 30 community cases since the virus recurred in the country late last month.
Local health workers have stepped up epidemiological investigation, contact tracing, and testing to early detect and quarantine suspect cases. They have tracked down and tested 16,539 cases linked to confirmed infections, and all have tested negative.
In its report released on February 13, the Ministry of Health said the situation in Hanoi has basically been brought under control.
The city is currently tracking down suspect cases or high-risk groups in the community.
