The bomb was found in a backyard stream in Trum hamlet, Pa Tang commune on May 31 by Ho Van Han, a local resident, when he was working in the field on a mountain slope.

The US-made M88 bomb is 1.1m long and weighs 100kg.

Earlier, three other huge bombs were detected in Pa Tang commune. There remains many bombs and mines left over from the past war, which threaten people’s daily lives and productive activities.

The bomb and mine clearance work is underway.
