The top legislator spoke highly of the organization’s role in helping its member countries consolidate law-governed states, promote democracy and deal with crises and conflicts.

He said he hopes that the OIF official’s visit will make a great success, marking a new step of development in relations between Vietnam and the OIF.
Hung also briefed his guest on the NA’s activities, especially the adoption of the 2013 Constitution while asking OIF members to increase cooperation for mutual benefits.
Vietnam will do its utmost to make positive contributions to the OIF’s growth and the Francophone Parliamentary Alliance (APF) for the sake of peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world, he said.
The NA leader asked the OIF and APF to encourage parliamentarians from the Francophone countries to take part in the 132nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU-132) scheduled for Vietnam in March 2015.
For his part, Abdou Diouf expressed his admiration for Vietnam’s vigorous development and spoke highly of the country’s role and status in his organization, particularly its APF sub-committee’s contributions and initiatives.
Receiving the Francophone Secretary General on the same day, President Sang said Vietnam hails his organization’s initiatives in increasing cooperation among the French-speaking community as well as between the OIF and other regional and international organizations.He stated that Vietnam backs the Francophone community’s development values and orientations that target peace, cultural and language diversity, solidarity and development. The President thanked the community’s members for their support for Vietnam’s membership in the United Nations Human Rights Council, adding that Vietnam pays attention to the development of French language and cooperation with French-speaking countries.

For his part, Abdou Diouf described Vietnam as the cradle of French language in Asia, saying the OIF will make every effort to push up its relationship with the country.He also called on Vietnam to act as a bridge for the organization and non French-speaking countries. Regarding the upcoming Francophone Summit themed “Women and young people of the Francophone, actors for peace, vectors for sustainable development,” in Senegal, the OIF official expressed his hope that President Sang will offer the best possible conditions for Francophone to increase its influence in Vietnam.
