On the morning of September 26, Ho Quoc Dung, secretary of the Binh Dinh provincial Party Committee, inspects preparation work as local people aim to cope with the impact of Typhoon Noru on the province.
In order to ensure maritime safety is maintained, the Binh Dinh provincial People's Committee have issued a document prohibiting fishing boats from disembarking as of 6 a.m. on September 26 until further notice. It also requested that relevant agencies cancel unnecessary meetings to give the highest priority to the response to Typhoon Noru.
A representative from Quy Nhon Port Management Board said that preparation work is underway to avoid damage caused by the typhoon. All ships have been contacted and informed of the direction of Typhoon Noru so that they can seek shelter at the earliest possible opportunity.
Dozens of fishing boats rush to the Quy Nhon Port to avoid getting stuck in the path of the huge typhoon.
Many of them had planned to be out at sea for 20 to 30 days but have been forced to return to shore after just two days.
Typhoon Noru is currently passing the Philippines and is set to make landfall at midnight of September 27 in central localities such as Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, and Quang Ngai with wind speeds of up to 140 kph.
The eye of the typhoon was making landfall in the Polillo Islands of the Philippines at 4 p.m. on September 25, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
