The Thang Long-Hanoi Heritage Conservation Centre launches a new tour on January 4 to give foreign visitors a fresh insight around the capital’s renowned royal space.
The night tour for foreign tourists lasts for 120 minutes and is part of Hanoi’s plan to attract more tourists this year.
A traditional Tet space is located at the gateway, offering guests an opportunity to try on royal costumes and pose for photos.
The highlight of the tour is a 20-minute puppetry show which depicts folk tales about local people’s daily lives.
The puppetry show is expected to help foreigners gain a greater understanding about Vietnamese culture and history.
The night tour includes a visit to an archaeological excavation area, an exhibition hall of rare antiquities including some which date back over 1,000 years, the Kinh Thien Palace, and the archaeological site at No. 18 Hoang Dieu street.
The citadel is a complex of historic imperial buildings located in the centre of Hanoi which was first constructed in 1011 under the reign of King Ly Thai To of the Ly dynasty which reigned from 1009 to 1225. The site is one of the 10 special national heritage sites proclaimed by the Prime Minister in 2009 and was inscribed on the World Heritage List by UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee in 2010.
Upon the nation fully reopening its tourism in April, 2022, the centre launched a night tour for domestic visitors every weekend which received overwhelmingly positive feedbacks from participants.
