VOV.VN - As the nation’s largest metropolitan area, urban life in Ho Chi Minh City has ground to a halt following local authorities imposing social distancing measures due to a sharp recent rise in novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases.

The municipal administration applies a range of social distancing measures starting from May 31 as part of efforts to slow the spread of the pandemic among the wider community. Most notably, Go Vap district and Thanh Loc Ward in District 12 is placed into lockdown as part of the COVID-19 fight.
Streets in Ho Chi Minh City remain quiet on the morning of May 31.
Thao Cam Vien, Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens, is shut down following the municipal administration’s directive relating to social distancing measures.
Famous for its bustling atmosphere, Nguyen Binh Khiem street is left deserted in the morning.
Commercial centres must halt their operations to prevent the further spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Diamond Department Store announces their temporary closure until further notice.
Eateries place notices about only running take-away or delivery services.
Coffee shops on Han Thuyen street in District 1 are only allowed to offer take-away services.
Frequently packed, Nguyen Huu Canh street is quieter than normal in the early morning.
A similar sight can be seen on Phan Van Dang street in Thu Duc city.
On-duty officials move to impose lockdown on a high-rise apartment building on Phan Van Dang street following the detection of a positive COVID-19 case.
Only a few vehicles can be seen on Mai Chi Tho road.
All drivers must wear face masks on Nguyen Thai Son road in Go Vap district to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.
