The morning of November 6 sees the Ministry of Transport and the Hanoi People's Committee officially host a handover ceremony for the Cat Linh - Ha Dong urban railway project.
 After more than 10 years of waiting, citizens of Hanoi can finally experience this new type of public transportation.
   Cat Linh station opens at 9 a.m. to welcome visitors. People will have the opportunity to experience free travel on the elevated line for the first 15 days.
On its first day of operation, the main station is crowded as people are curious to travel on a new mode of transport.
Truong Duy Son, a resident from Kim Ma ward, says he has arrived early to experience travelling on the new railway service.
Ngo Minh Dat, another Hanoian, reveals that the new type of public transport is really convenient.
Many families also bring their children in order to enjoy a ride on the elevated line.
Local people quickly line up getting a free ticket to board the train

Following 15 days of free travel, people will have to buy tickets at all stations.

The rail route will open from 5:30 a.m. to 22:00 p.m. over the first six months. Trains will run every 15 minutes per trip in the first week and every 10 minutes per trip in the second week.
