Quang Ninh Museum - a black pearl by Ha Long Bay

Friday, 09:14, 17/03/2023
Located in the October 30 Square on Tran Quoc Nghien road overlooking Ha Long Bay, the building was designed by Spanish architect Salvador Perez Arroyo, who was inspired by the image of a lump of coal, the typical mineral of Quang Ninh. Looking from the outside, the building looks like a giant black mirror.
Since its debut in 2015, the museum has become a favourite check-in spot of both domestic and foreign tourists.
In 2022 Quang Ninh Museum receives around 700,000 arrivals.
Quang Ninh Museum is divided into three floors, with the first introducing some natural conditions of Quang Ninh, the second displaying relics and artifacts of historical value, and the third featuring the history of coal mining.
The first floor of the site is a space specifically for the sea and nature.
The second floor offers visitors an insight into the life of local people through thousands of years of history.
The site reflects the historical past, religious values, and times of war. Pictured is a corner featuring the complex of Yen Tu Monuments and Landscapes.
The golden lotus-flower-shaped box of Ngoa Van Pagoda on Yen Tu Mountain dating back to the 14th century is preserved at the Quang Ninh Museum.
The third floor is dedicated to Quang Ninh’s famous coal mining industry that constitutes the backbone of local economy.
Strolling through space, visitors can gain an insight into the history and development of coal mining in the locality.
Items featuring memories of President Ho Chi Minh and the people of Quang Ninh province are put on display.
Quang Ninh Museum has offically been recognised as the top-ranking site in the system of museums in Vietnam by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Visitors can discover exhibited items with 3D technology by logging on the website baotangquangninh.vn.
A visit to Quang Ninh Museum is highly recommended to anyone interested in the history and culture of the province. It offers a unique glimpse into the development and history of the region, as well as showcasing the daily lives of its inhabitants over the centuries.
