Party, State leaders pay tributes to late President Ho ahead of last NA session

The ceremony takes place shortly before the last session of the 14th National Assembly begins in Hanoi the same day. In the photo, incumbent National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan (first row) leads the delegation to the President Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum.
Incumbent Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and former permanent member of the Party Secretariat are among those delegates. Phuc has been introduced to run for the State President of Vietnam.
Pham Minh Chinh, head of the Party Central Committee’s Organisation Commission has been introduced to run for a key post in the Government.
The last NA session, due to take place from March 24 to April 8, is said to discuss a number of important issues, including electing key State leaders.
NA deputies are scheduled to spend seven days on high-level personnel for the State apparatus in the 2021-2025 tenure.
They will dismiss the incumbent chief legislator on March 30 and elect the new one the following day.
The deputies will dismiss the incumbent State President and elect the new one on April 2 who is set to be sworn in shortly afterwards.
They will also dismiss the incumbent PM and elect the new one on April 5 who will be sworn in shortly afterwards.
The National Assembly is set to elect 25 leaders and officials during the course of the session.
The personnel work for the new 2021-2026 tenure will be continued in July when a new National Assembly is elected.
. Vietnamese people will cast their ballots to elect 500 deputies to the new National Assembly this May.
